Website Migration

Please note that we will be moving the server for the ECTA website in the next week or so.  This should be relatively seamless from the users’ point of view, except that we may experience some period of shutdown.  We can’t predict how long that may be, and it could be from minutes to a couple of days.  After the migration, we will have the same internet address, and the website should look the same and have the same functionality.  So if you try to come here and can’t find us, all we can say is be patient and try back again later.  Thanks in advance for your patience.

Season Finale Is in the Books

The Season Finale is over, and it was a delightful meet by all accounts, notwithstanding the rain delay.  For complete results, click here, or follow the links from the main navigation bar at the top of the home page. Pictures from the meet have been added to the gallery. Follow the link from the navigation bar above.

It is bittersweet that we report on the close of the 2008 season. Our special thanks to all of the volunteers who made this meet and this season one to remember.  We offer special thanks to Deb Dross, Donna Timney and Tonya Turk for their late night work on Sunday night following the meet to get the results posted promptly.

As we go into the winter hiatus, we wish you all a healthy and happy break, and we hope to see you again in April.  Check in from time to time because we have some feature articles planned to entertain you.

Pictured above is the Centimark Mustang entry, which earned driver Steve Benyo his coveted green hat and induction into the ECTA 200MPH Club, with a best speed of 228.656 mph.  Congratulations, Steve and crew.  Also, congratulations to Mark Weiler and Dennis Zainfeld on their induction into the “2″ Club (not pictured).

Dave Owen Memorial

On September 27, 2008 we lost a good friend, Dave Owen, as a result of an accident during competition at Maxton.  For more information about Dave, including how you can make a donation to help his family, follow the Dave Owen Memorial Page link on the sidebar on this page or click here.

We wanted to share this recent message from Dave’s family:

The boys and I would like to thank our “Racing Family” for all the Love and support you have all shown to us. I don’t know how we would make it through this difficult time without you all.  We want to wish you all a Happy Holiday season full of Joy, and a Healthy and Happy New Year! Looking forward to spring, and hope to see you all in April.Much Love,

Lauren, Josh and Jake

Welcome to the ECTA

The East Coast Timing Association LLC (ECTA) is the principal sanctioning organization for Land Speed Racing in the Eastern United States. Five times a year, scores of car and motorcycle racers gather at the Laurinburg-Maxton airfield just outside Maxton, North Carolina, to speed down the Maxton Mile race track. Vehicles range from production cars and bikes (basically off the showroom floor) to exotic, purpose-built racers. It is quite a show!

The ECTA is a membership organization. You can become a member by completing and returning the membership information form available on this site to the ECTA. (Click Here for full details). You must be a member to participate in our events as a rider/driver.

Spectators are welcome at all ECTA events. Come out and watch us go fast!
